I Have NO facebook account so How does facebook know the ';people you might know';?

i get emails that says two things

'people who have invited you' (previously) ok i get that BUT

how does it then make a connection to totally unrelated people that

';you might know';

does it store their email contacts, and though they never 'invited' me, send it out labeled 'you might know' that seems bit devious, as they didn't outright 'invite' me

or is it cross referencing my name , from an old fbook account to the name that the new 'inviter' is sending out etcI Have NO facebook account so How does facebook know the ';people you might know';?
These emails that you are receiving of ';friend connections'; are formed from your friends that already have facebook accounts. Here's an example to clear up those ';connections';.

Let's say that you have a friend that has a facebook (Bill). Bill has friends on facebook, but you don't know them. These ';friendship connections'; are assumptions that Bill's friends on facebook, are friends of yours.I Have NO facebook account so How does facebook know the ';people you might know';?
i dono.. its a little invasive though eh??

thats why i refuse to subscribe to the social networking cult

WATER MY CROPS
It says u might know them cuz ur friends are probably mutal firends and if u dont have a facebook how is it telling u '; people u might know'; ?
It is because the friends that have invited you also have friends, which Facebook thinks you may no. Thus saying that you may know them.
There is no privacy on Facebook. If anyone anywhere types your name it will be sent on to others that person knows. Stay off it and hope your friends do not type your name anywhere.
it bases people ';you might know'; on your information you enter, like your hometown, schools or colleges you've attended, and interests.
It can trace you're location and finds people near you simple as that.
When a person signs up for a Facebook account or anytime thereafter, they can upload their email enter contacts list. Then Facebook masses emails invites to all those people.

Facebook saves all searches. It saves your cookies. If you have visited a Facebook page, it remembers your IP. It is invasive.
